This year’s Juno Award nominations have been released, and Orange Grove Publicity is thrilled that two of our clients are among the nominees! Congratulations to Shirantha Beddage and Heather Bambrick!
Beddage’s new album ‘Momentum’ (Jazz Album of The Year: Solo) was inspired by his life long fascination with the physical sciences. Widely praised as one of the year’s finest jazz releases, it features an all star lineup of musicians, including Dave Restivo, Mike Downes, Rich Brown, Mark Kelso, as well as Will Kennedy of Yellowjackets fame.
2016 saw Heather Bambrick – one of Canada’s best known vocalists, broadcasters and voice artists – release “You’ll Never Know,” her first solo album in ten years, and one of her finest to date. Featuring a collection of standards, original arrangements of pop tunes, as well as an interpretation of a folk tune from her native Newfoundland, “You’ll Never Know” is one of the finest vocal jazz albums in recent memory. It features a who’s who of Canadian jazz talent, including Mark Kieswetter, Ross MacIntyre, Davide DiRenzo, Rob Piltch, Chase Sanborn, John Johnson, as well as the great Guido Basso.
Congrats Heather and Shirantha!
Critcs are saying…
Shirantha Beddage – Momentum
“One is struck not only by how awesome a talent the young musician is but also how the young meister would leave many older, more experienced low register reeds players huffing and puffing in an effort to catch up…It is an unparalleled sophistication that comes from the seamless combination of intellect and intuition; something that enables him to build phrases around a perfect note, and lines around perfect phrases.”

Heather Bambrick – You’ll Never Know
“Her voice is a paragon of clarity in each situation and she always knows how to get her point across in the perfect way, never overselling or underplaying an idea… You’ll Never Know is simply a marvelous musical mélange, unified by the talents of Heather Bambrick and her trusted band.” [4 Stars]
