Heralded as Edmonton’s premier party brass band, Brasstactics have brought the fiery spirit of New Orleans brass  band music to the heart of western Canada. With total mobility and an all acoustic sound, Brasstactics have strutted their way into becoming a staple for outdoor parties, music festivals, and sporting events for nearly five years. Taking cues from bands like Rebirth Brass Band, MEUTE, and The Soul Rebels, the nine piece ensemble performs a mosaic of original songs and reimagined covers. Be it 80’s Rock, 90’s Hip-Hop, or Billboard Top 40, Brasstactics are guaranteed to get audiences dancing and singing along.

Playing from bus stops, rooftops, parking lots, and sidewalks, the brass band has paraded through the prairies and Rockies, bringing joy to their fans and community. The last few years have found them opening for groups like Five Alarm Funk and My Son The Hurricane, and collaborating with local DJs and hip hop artists such as jingnjoc on their song ‘Do One Two.’ The group has weaved the stories of their journey into their debut LP Tribute To The Groove, a colourful collection of nine New Orleans inspired brass band songs packed with grit and high energy. Bursting with explosive horn lines, pumping marching drums, and the occasional rap verse, Tribute To The Groove is a block party of an album dedicated to the community that has backed the band every step of the way.

Recorded at Dept. 9 Studios in Alberta, Canada, Tribute To The Groove features some of the best drum and brass musicians in western Canada. Recorded live off the floor, the album showcases the band’s funky, soulful sound. With years of love, sweat, and dedication behind it, Tribute To The Groove is the first of many albums to come from the hardest working brass band in the Prairies.
